Gifts-for Garrett:

Gifts-For Garrett Sponsorship Program
(in partnership with God's Helping Hands)

Here's how it will work:

100 Children from the poorest region of Kentucky will be sponsored by individuals here in Maryland. North Glen Baptist Church will be making a trip down to Garrett, Kentucky on December 11-13, 2010 to host a large Christmas party for the children that are part of this sponsorship program. At the party, all of the gifts purchased by the sponsors here in Maryland are passed out to the children to make their Christmas brighter, and to bring the love and joy of Jesus into their home during this holiday season.

If you decide to sponsor a child:
  • You will receive the name, age, favorite color, pant, shoe and shirt sizes, and one desired Christmas gift.
  • Try and get a whole outfit (Pair of pants, shirt, and pair of shoes)
  • If they have a desired gift listed, try to fulfill that request!
  • Try to keep the limit of spending to around $50-$75, using your own discretion if it be more or less.

  • WRAP ALL OF THE GIFTS, AND PLACE NAME TAGS ON EVERY ONE!

  • Write your child a Christmas card!
  • Put all of the child’s gifts together, as well as the card, and drop off at the church during specified times! We recommend that you purchase an oversized gift bag (usually found in Wal-mart or Target) to place all of the gifts in. This will keep them all together during the trip, and will also make it easier to hand out during the Christmas party.

There are a few ways to help:

  1. We are encouraging that everyone adopt a child so that all 100 children will receive Christmas gifts.
  2. If you do not wish to adopt a specific child, you may buy toys, clothes, and other gifts so that we can bring down the extra gifts for children not on our list.
  3. We also have a great monetary need as well, including expenses for traveling and rooms for our team delivering the gifts.
  4. Also needed for the trip are cleaning supplies and non-perishable food items that will be donated to God’s Helping Hand. Items may include bar soaps, shampoos, razors, dish soap, canned soups and vegetables, cereals, pasta noodles, macaroni and cheese, etc.
  5. If you would like to do more by supporting the local mission God’s Helping Hand on a monthly basis, please contact Vicky McDuffie for options to help keep God’s Helping Hand open to those who rely on it for everyday support.
